Corban Iberians PRE Stud - About Us

Established in 2006, Corban Iberians is a small PRE stud based in South Island New Zealand, breeding quality PREs for riders and professionals alike.

All our horses are inscribed (registered), and our breeding stock are approved (revised) for breeding, in the international PRE studbook, administered by LG ANCCE in Spain.

With our vision to see the PRE horse take it's place in NZ as a key breed of choice for riders, we sought to bring together PREs with strong gaits, the potential to produce movement, strong breed type, good conformation, and the wonderful temperment the breed is famous for. This included purchasing mares with competitive lines from the internationally reknowned Hampton Green Farms, who compete their horses on the international stage to Olympic level and have placed many PREs with professionals, including Olympians.

Our bloodlines include the dressage line of Hortelano VII, the modern Yeguada Militar performance lines of Lebrijano III, Remache, Utrerano VII, and the much sought-after lines of Albero II and Yeguada Marin Garcia. The breeding programme is deliberatley diverse to achieve our goal, including quality Qualified (Calificado) stallions from overseas who have proven morphology and performance records.

Breeding for improvement in a way that stays true to the original breed standard is central to our philosophy. Taking an active interest in the promotion and direction of the PRE around the world, we keep in touch with developments in Spain and other countries to continuously expand our knowledge of the breed and bloodlines. This helps inform our breeding programme. We are active members of ACPRE NZ, the NZ Association which aims to promote and preserve the PRE horse in our country.

Our name was chosen for both the origins of the PRE breed, the Iberian peninsula, and the significance in the reason for our existence. "Corban" means a gift or offering (to God). We feel very fortunate to have received a gift in the amazing PREs that have come to us. Since our inception we hoped to provide gifts both in the horses we breed for others to enjoy, and practically in the donations we give to childrens charities and mission in NZ and overseas supported by a portion of the proceeds from our sales.
